Creating a new Template

What is Workflow PowerBox?

Workflow PowerBox is a solution that extends JIRA's workflow capabilities by a set of powerful templates that allow JIRA administrators to reuse workflow elements (such as conditions, validators and post functions) and manage workflows as flexible as possible.

The app contains three template types:

  • Condition templates
  • Validator templates
  • Post function templates

It also comes with a set of custom conditions, validators and post functions that can be used with templates or directly in JIRA workflows.

Additional features

Backup & Restore

Plugin configuration is automatically backed up and restored. It is included in the JIRA backup/restore functionality. Remember, though that the templates are stored in the file system on JIRA server and they have to be (like the issue attachments) backed up separately. The directory which contains your template is located in the JIRA_HOME/data/attachment-generator. Do not forget to backup the contents of this directory.

Retrieving templates from JIRA

Automated Attachments Plugin allows you to download a template that has been previously uploaded on the server. Therefore you do not need to keep local copies of your templates and wonder which ones are up-to-date.

Changing File Encoding

Our add-on supports various file text encodings. In the Plugin options you can set one of many encoding formats.

Error handling

Rarely the system cannot generate a file (e.g. when a template file has been removed from the JIRA server). In order to deal with such situations we have prepared an error handling mechanism, which helps administrators find the root cause of the issue and eliminate it.

3. Organize your pages

Here are some tips for organizing your content.

  • Change the page order

The sidebar on the left displays your pages in a hierarchy. If you have the Space Administrator permissions you can click "Space Tools" > "Reorder Pages" to move pages around.

  • Add labels

Labels help to keep pages organized and make it easier for you to find the information you need. Click "Labels" at the bottom of a page to add or edit. The "Related pages" section on this page uses labels too!

  • Make templates

Standardize and speed up the page creation process with templates. You can create and format a template with page layouts, standard headings and instructional text for hints and guidelines. Check out our sample page on "Working with templates"

This saves a lot of time and greatly cuts the overhead from a skilled Jira administrator.

Some extra options like disabling templates and template-in-template are included.

A template is added to a workflow like any other workflow element. Learn more in the section regarding Condition templates.
