Starting from version 1.3.6, it is possible to import secure field values to the existing issues in one go.

Steps to follow:

  • export secure fields to CSV from the Search tab (to understand the file format required for import)
  • add new values to the file
  • import the edited file in the Search tab.

Important

Secure field import does not create issues in the process.

In one CSV file, you can import secure field values for up to 1000 Jira issues.

Only users with Read and Write permissions can perform the operation.

Importing process step by step

  1. Navigate to the needed project → proceed to the Secure fields page from the left-hand sidebar / top bar.

  2. To export Secure fields values in the form of a CSV file, just search for the relevant issues using filter(s) and press "Export to CSV" at the top right corner of the page.

  3. Prepare the CSV file for import:
    • remember about 1000 issues limit
    • Issue key column is required for a successful import
    • specify the secure fields and their values for each issue
    • save the changes.

4. On the Secure field search page click

5. The following screen will appear:

    • project is set by default as the same in which context you are importing the file
    • upload the prepared CSV file of a size not more than 10 MB
    • date and date time formats refer to the respective secure fields types and are set by default. In some cases, Excel may change the default date format in the file. You can change it back accordingly or use M/d/yyyy format during the import.
    • you can use Validate only mode to check if the file has no errors and if the import can be run successfully.

6. Click Next. On the following screen pair secure fields from CSV file with secure fields in your project. If you wish to edit any of the values during the import, check "Map field value" box. Click Next.

7. If "Map field value" box was checked for any of the fields, you will be redirected to the mapping screen. You can edit any of the values or skip the importing for particular issues altogether.

7. After clicking Validate, the app will show information on the number of rows that can be imported completely or partially and the number of rows that can't be imported. For details download the Import log.

8. After validation, you can make changes (if required) or proceed to Import. After importing is completed, the app will show a report and the import log will be available for download.
